[ Story ]
This is a film adaptation of the autobiographical novel by the Showa literary master, Dazai Osamu, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth. Beautiful images of decadence follow the decline of a self-destructive young man with a weakness for alcohol and women. The director is Arato Genjiro, who is known for portraying pathos amidst dejection in films such as Akame 48 Waterfalls (Akame Shiju Yataki Shinju Misui). Son of a wealthy family in Tsugaru, Yozo (Ikuta Toma) has a highly refined sensibility and self-consciousness from a young age, and tries to fit into his surroundings by playing the clown. When he starts going to high school in Tokyo, he meets playboy Horiki (Iseya Yusuke) and begins to lead a life of meaningless debauchery.
