[ Story ]
This documentary about the ANPO movement, a national movement in Japan opposing the US-Japan security treaty in the 1960s is from director Linda Hoaglund, who was born and raised in Japan. Working as an interpreter and creator of subtitles for Japanese films being screened at international film festivals, she felt that the movement had an enormous effect on the film directors who have experienced it and so she incorporated her knowledge and experiences into this documentary. She interviewed a number of celebrities for it, including globally famous artist Yokoo Tadanori. Long after Japan has gone through the struggle to establish the security treaty, she looks at the security problems that are still not resolved today, the issue of U.S. bases in Japan, and the relationship between the United States and Japan.
