This is the third film in the "TOKYO SHOCK" series produced entirely with US funding, leveraging miniature models and props and boldly creating a special effects monster film rooted in the strong Japanese film tradition. This work was directed by Haraguchi Tomoo, an exemplary special makeup artist in Japan and features highly anticipated cameo appearances by Anno Hideaki, Higuchi Shinji, and others. A girl (Hirata Misato) comes back to her home town from Tokyo and meets and befriends a kappa (a legendary river creature in Japan). Then, the monster Hangyorasu appears. Death Kappa, the kappa-turned-monster, bravely stands up against it.
