Following stage, television, and film adaptations in South Korea, Naoki Prize-winning author Higashino Keigo's suspense novel has been brought to the silver screen in Japan. It follows nineteen years in the lives of a man and woman connected to a murder, reflecting changing social mores over time. In 1980, a pawnbroker is found killed in a locked warehouse. The investigation is closed when the prime suspect is found dead, but Sasagaki (Funakoshi Eichiro), a police detective assigned to the case, can't shake his suspicion that all is not as it seems. Nineteen years later, strange incidents begin to take place around the suspect's daughter Yukiho (Horikita Maki) and the victim's son Ryoji (Kora Kengo).
