[ Story ]
Biographical film of the Meiji period Japanese chemist who made major contributions to medicine and industrial development, starting with the extraction of adrenalin. The film carefully follows the dramatic episodes in his life, including marriage to an American woman and planting 3,000 cherry trees in Washington, D.C. Born into a family of official domain physicians in Kanazawa, Shokichi (Kato Masaya) decides to pursue chemistry after studying abroad in England stirs his desire to save lives en masse. In 1884 while living in New Orleans he falls in love with eighteen-year-old Caroline (Naomi Grace).
