[ Story ]

A documentary delving into the life and passions of 93-year-old education scholar Ota Takashi. Its director is Mori Yasuyuki, who has made numerous documentaries and cultural films including Konbanwa about students attending a night school. Music is provided by Hayashi Hikaru, who also worked on Shindo Kaneto's Post Card, and Tanigawa Shuntaro gives a reading of his own poem, from which the film's title is taken. As a soldier in World War II, Ota led an arduous and itinerant existence. When he returned to civilian life, he experienced various successes and setbacks in the course of developing a unique educational philosophy that went against conventional thinking.
