{FAT CHANCE} director Sekiguchi Yuka's first "feature-length documentary" depicts her dementia-diagnosed mother during the two-and a half years period. This documentary is based on the much-talked-about YouTube video clips, which garnered over 400,000 viewers.
Mother and daughter have lived apart for 29 years. The diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease brings Yuka back to Japan from Australia, and she draws closer to her mother as if to make up for their distance over the years. Life with her expressive mother elicits tears, laughter and somber grief at times. The tight-unit and hilarious Sekiguchi family give the Alzheimer's world a different perspective.
