[ Story ]

Documentary focusing on the freak show, a type of popular culture in Japan dating from the Muromachi period. Director Okutani Yoichiro, who was honored with a Special Mention at the 2011 Yamagata Documentary International Film Festival's New Asian Currents for {Children of Soleil}, goes on the road with the sole remaining freak show.
Freak shows, fixtures at fairs and festivals that drew throngs of customers with ghoulish curiosities like the snake woman and human pump. But that was in the past, and now Otora Kogyosha is the only one left.
