[ Story ]
This documentary, the second theatrically-released work from rising talent Okutani Yoichiro, follows the daily life of an elderly man living with his dog on a rundown boat on Tokyo's Tama River. Winner of a Special Mention in the New Asian Currents section of the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2011.
In a town at the mouth of the Tama River that flows into Tokyo Bay, an elderly man lives on a rundown boat with a dog he has named Soleil, meaning "sun" in French. Through tranquil imagery, the camera sheds light on their solitary life in a corner of a vast urban sprawl.
