[ Story ]
Shigematsu Kiyoshi's dramatic account of an adolescent boy's life is brought to the screen by director SABU (Dangan Runner and Kofuku no Kane - The Blessing Bell).
On an area of reclaimed land there are two distinct areas: the "Islands" and the "Land", but the residents of the "Land" look down on the people who live in the "Islands". Shuji (Tegoshi Yuya) lives with his parents and his brilliant older brother in the "Land", but he falls in love with Eri (Kan Hanae), a girl with a troubled past. He starts to frequent the church that she goes to on the "Islands". Then everything starts to fall apart. Eri moves to Tokyo. Shuji's brother is arrested for arson and his parents run away, leaving him alone. Shuji sets off on the long and difficult journey to Tokyo to try to find Eri. When he finds her at last, he discovers she has been raped by her adoptive uncle. Shuji kills the uncle and they both set out for home, a journey that can only end in more tragedy.
