[ Story ]
The Ants's Ikeya Kaoru creates this intimate documentary about a 77-year-old man stricken by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. The film movingly depicts his powerful way of life, and won a Special Mention by the Ecumenical Jury at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. "Boss" Sato Naoshi, who works in agriculture and forestry in Iwate Prefecture, loses his house to the tsunami, as well as his son, a member of the volunteer fire corps. Sato adamantly refuses to relocate to a temporary housing facility, and like people of long ago, he heads to the woods on his own to cut trees and tries to rebuild his home.
