[ Story ]
Tabata Yoshio was a popular singing star who remained active until his death at the age of 94. This documentary is an indepth exploration of the wild life of Tabata, known by his nickname "Batayan," through a rich blend of archival materials, interviews with those who knew him, and concert footage.
Born in 1919, Tabata Yoshio grew up in extreme poverty and got his start on the road to stardom when he won a singing competition. With the advent of World War II, his singing style was denounced as "weak" by the authorities and he was forced to leave Osaka, but he survived this period of misfortune to eventually produce massive hit songs once again.
