[ Story ]

A documentary about a knife maker by director Hayashi Masayuki, who has focused on Taiwanese history in works such as Ame ga mau Kinkaseki zansho. It adopts a neutral perspective and uses beautiful cinematography to depict people who live resolutely despite the pain they have suffered due to a history of war and invasion.
Kinmen is an archipelago of islands lying between Taiwan and China that was occupied by Imperial Japanese Army during World War II, and subsequently became a theater for fierce combat between the National Revolutionary Army and the armed forces of the Communist Party of China. Fifty-four-year-old Wu makes knives from artillery shells that were left behind. What message does he instill in them?
