[ Story ]
Kaoru (Yui) suffers from XP (Xeroderma Pigmentosum syndrome), an intractable disease that prevents her from being exposed to sunlight. She has to lead a life where day and night are reversed; hence she cannot even go to school. Her only pleasure is to sing at night in town and to see Koji (Tsukamoto Takashi) from the window of her room before she goes to bed every morning. One day, when Kaoru sees Koji, she follows him and confides in him suddenly. Koji is bewildered, but he is attracted to her singing and gradually opens up to her. When he learns about her illness, he plans to produce a CD for her in the remaining time she has. Kaoru dies when the CD is completed; however, Kaoru lives on forever in her singing.
Directed by Koizumi Norihiro, an up-and-coming director of production company, ROBOT, which also created Test of Trust UMIZARU 2 and Always - Sunset on Third Street. This is a love story that depicts the first love of a girl who suffered from an intractable disease and left a love song as proof of her life; based on the Hong Kong film C'est la Vie, Mon Cheri. Yui, who plays the role of Kaoru, wrote and sang the theme song.
