Anime commemorating the 25th year anniversary for the debut of Shirow Masamune's SF comic by the same name. Explores the genesis of the special-operations task force that fights cyber crime. This sequel to the four-part Ghost in the Shell: Arise reunites chief director Kise Kazuchika with screenplay writer Ubukata Tow.
The year is 2029. The prime minister is assassinated and full-body cyborg Motoko (voice: Sakamoto Maaya) initiates an investigation with Batou (voice: Matsuda Kenichiro) and Togusa (voice: Shingaki Tarusuke). She realizes that behind the assassination lies shadowy brokering over technical obstacles to cyborg development.
