Based on the novel by Takeda Ayano, this theatrical version of the televised anime relates the youthful years of high school girls passionately devoted to brass band music and depicts the girls striving hard on the long road toward competing in a contest. At the helm is Ishihara Tatsuya of the "Suzumiya Haruhi" anime series.
When first year high school student, Omae Kumiko (voice: Kurosawa Tomoyo), takes a peek at the brass band club, she sees a member from her middle-school brass band, Takasaka Rena (voice: Asai Ayaka). Kumiko recalls something that happened between her and Reina at a competition and becomes hesitant to join the club.
