The television anime series produced by Kyoto Animation based on Takeda Ayano's youth novel heads to the big screen. Director Ishihara Tatsuya, who is known for "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", and screenwriter Hanada Jukki with whom Ishihara collaborated on "Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions!" once again resume their roles in this film.
The Kitauji High School brass band club has welcomed many new students after its achievements at the national championship. Omae Kumiko (voice: Kurosawa Tomoyo) has become a 2nd year student and coaches the new students. They set their sights on the gold medal at the nationals but problems arise one after the other.
