First animated in 1992 as Chika Gentou Gekiga Shoujo Tsubaki, Maruo Suehiro's underground manga is adapted to live-action by TORICO, whose short film, Mikagami, won numerous awards at film festivals in Japan and abroad. The film unfolds through a colorful yet bizarre visual world.
Midori (Nakamura Risa) is an orphan working at a circus company full of freaks and oddities. She becomes close with ESP-gifted Wonder Masamitsu (Kazama Shunsuke), but is insulted by Muchisute (Saeki Daichi), a performer who uses only his feet. This enrages Wonder who murders Muchisute which Midori happens to witness.
