[ Story ]
A suspense-thriller by Kobayashi Masahiro who is the first Japanese to have three of his films–Bootleg Film, Koroshi, and Man Walking on Snow–screened at the Cannes Film Festival three years in a row. It depicts the fate of a detective being made the fool by a baffling case.
Detective Murata's (Kagawa Teruyuki) wife was murdered. Now he lives a self-destructive life of despair, isolating himself within his home absorbed in alcohol. One day, his co-worker, Namekawa (Tanabe Seiichi), pays a visit. He implores Murata to accompany from Tomakomai, Hokkaido the family of a female university student murdered in a Shibuya love hotel so they may identify the body.
