When Chiaki testifies for her husband, Ikejiri, who is charged with attempted homicide, a young industrialist, Miyahara, who is struck by her beauty offers her help while secretly desiring her.
When Chiaki asks Ikejiri for a divorce, he refuses and in his excitement wounds her. Chiaki is thus unable to go with her sweetheart, Ryuichi, to Onagawa and he goes alone.
When finally she arrives at Onagawa, Ryuichi's fisheries observation ship has sailed and Chiaki decides to work at a restaurant while awaiting his return.
Learning that Ryuichi's ship will call at Ohata, Chiaki goes there only to hear that the vessel has been lost in a typhoon. When her divorce from Ikejiri has been granted it is no longer any consolation.
However, Ryuichi is saved and the two lovers find happiness.
