[ Story ]

Mikako Aikawa, the pretty and spirited daughter of the keeper of a fashionable Japanese restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo, has a younger brother named Ichiro, a high school student, who seems poor in his studies. Mikako suspects his poor achievements due to his association with Hikaru Yamada, second son of Ryohei Yamada, a rich businessman.
Tadashi Yamada, Hikaru's elder brother, visits Restaurant Aikawa, accompanied by Michiko, a jealous girl who is eager to marry him. Tadashi falls in love with Mikako at first sight. Michiko is infuriated and makes a scene. Tadashi's father Ryohei, a widower, also comes to the restaurant, with his girlfriend. Mikako thinks it is immoral for a man of fifty to become intimate with such a young woman.
Mikako strongly criticizes Tadashi, concerning their brothers, although at heart she likes him. She then tells Ichiro not to mix with Hikaru.
The end of the friendship between the two high school students brings a drastic change to the whole situation. Urged by her parents who, despite their illiteracy, have seen the world, Mikako hurries to Kyoto, where her brother Ichiro is enjoying the year-end vacation with the Yamada brothers, eager to deliver in person the lighter Tadashi mislaid at the restaurant.
