[ Story ]

Towards the end of the Pacific War, Keiko, eldest daughter of the Sonobe family which had been evacuated to a remote Hokkaido village, rejects the marriage proposal of Koichi, son of the village master.
Now Koichi inflames the villagers to persecute the Sonobes in every way and only Shintaro, a hunter, and his daughter Yuri, remain friendly towards them.
One day Keiko is attacked by Koichi but is assisted by Yuri. During the struggle, Keiko kills Koichi with a stone. The villagers now gather around the Sonobes' house but Yuri wards them off with a hunting gun. Shintaro tells Yuri and Keiko to escape, but the frustrated villagers become an angry mob and kill the second son Norio, the grandmother and Shintaro. As Hideyuki, the eldest son, returns, Yuri, too, is shot to death.
By the time the villagers recover their senses, seven persons have been slain.
