17-year-old Ichiko Shima lives with her stiff-backed railroad crossing guard father. Her mother is confined to a mental asylum. Lured by tales of how Marilyn Monroe started out as a nude model, she agrees to take up modelling on condition that she be allowed to wear a bathing suit. Her striking figure soon attracts the wolf-packs and arouses the jealousy of her friend, Masae.
Scandals created by Masae are soon attributed to Ichiko and the tragedy begins. Hearing of the seduction of her daughter, Ichiko's mother attacks the alleged assailant with a pair of scissors. Then, in a drunken stupor, her father causes an accident and loses his job. Faced with these crises and the financial setbacks they incur, Ichiko is no longer in a position to work on her own "part-way" standards. As she stands before the camera, and tears off the final items of clothing, a new woman... and a striking nude model... is born.
