[ Story ]

This film is based on the life of a real person, Tora Yoshida, who married at fourteen and after her husband was sent to the front raised eleven children all by herself. There were years of heart-break and poverty but, nonetheless, she carried on, raising her children to become good and responsible adults. The youngest daughter wrote a poem about her mother and it won the Prime Minister's Award, thus making both mother and child famous throughout Japan. Still alive, working hard, the real-life heroine of this films says: "I am the most fortunate mother in all Japan."
