[ Story ]

This film is based on the fact that the Mutsu, the great Japanese battlecruiser exploded from an unknown cause at a secret base in the Inland Sea during the last days of the Pacific War, and is a story filled with thrills, suspense, and spectacular war scenes, combined with international intelligence activities, beautiful female spies and passionate young Japanese naval officers. After having been ordered to retreat from the battle of Midway and excluded from another important operation, when H.I.J.M.S. Mutsu anchored at a secret base in the Inland Sea, suspicion and indignation filled her impatient crew. Knowing this, a few Japanese spies in collusion with an international intelligence bureau, take advantage of the situation to set a time bomb in the magazine. However, Misako, an attractive spy, falls in love with Lt. Commander Fushimi, and when they are threatened by her superiors, she confesses the plot. Shortly afterwards the great Mutsu explodes and sinks.
