[ Story ]
Nami is a girl who wants to get ahead and does not much care how she does it. One night she meets Kamoto who picks her up and takes her to a night club. She likes this and is not surprised when the next stop is a hotel. She is surprised, however, that he asks nothing of her -- they only talk, and he wonders if she would like to be rich, to be famous, and to be even more beautiful than she already is. Of course she wants these things and so she let him send her to a charm school, learns to be perfectly groomed, and wins beauty contensts. Now famous and beautiful, she then listens to Kamoto's plans for making them both rich, and her heart is chilled. Though she acts sophisticated, as though she would stop at nothing, she is really young and relatively naive. But it is too late to back out now. She agrees, as he knew that she would, and he puts her to work. But this kind of work, though well paid, exacts its own price. She may become wealthy but she cannot remain famous, much less beautiful. Nami has sold out and will now reap the rewards of that decision.
