[ Story ]

At 15 Jiro (Takeo Chii) stabbed a teacher and spent time in a reformatory. Ten years later he is seeking his place in society. Through Fuse (Yoko Minamida) he obtains work as a private teacher for her son YOichi (ShOji Ishibashi). But YOichi is heading in the direction he once took and Jiro does his best to prevent this from happening. YOichi, finds his only happiness in his Sanae (Kazuyo Sumida).
Jiro also learns that YOichi's father Yoda is not Fuse's real husband and that Yoda has another son named T akahiko (Shinjiro Ebara) and daughter Seiko (Chieko Matsubara) by his legal wife. Jiro and Seiko are attacked by a group of hoodlums who resent Takahi ko's playing with girls of their acquaintance. Jiro beats them off. Now the influence of Jiro is beginning to have a positive affect on his life, and he is losing interest in associating with hoodlums.
Jiro finds that Sanae has drawn closer to him and he is determined to become a decent young man. A city assemblyman and teacher at the school have been making secret films of the classroom and YOichi's actions in par- ticular, to gain publicity by exposing a suppos- ed corrupt school system.
Jiro and YOichi attend an engagement party for Takahiko and his bride-to-be Ryoko (Meiko Kaji). When it is revealed that Takahiko has been involved in a scandal over fight-fixing. This brings disgrace upon Takahiko's family and Fusa, is killed in an automobile accident.
YOichi catches the city assemblyman taking pictures and knocks him down. He goes to the reformatory and Seiko and Jiro realize he will return to take his place in society like Jiro.
