Originally published in 1959 and was introduced in the elementary school textbook, writer Agawa Hiroyuki and artist Okabe Fuyuhiko's classic picture book is brought to the screen in this animated version. The fate of the old steam engine train Yaemon is portrayed in full 3D CG. Yaemon the train lives in an old warehouse on a corner of the station yard. Yaemon is now obsolete, and treated as a nuisance by both the station attendants and the new trains, his only friends a pair of mice and other animals. Eventually, Yaemon is scheduled to be dismantled.
