[ Story ]

Ayako (Chieko Matsubara), a pretty girl in a small country town yearns to marry Nishida. She falls into depths of despair, however, when she loses her chastity Eiji who assaults her and Nishida abandons her.
A year later, she finds a job at a Shinjuku cabaret, Club Black, which comes under control of the Yano Gumi Gang and there meets Eiji who also lives in Shinjuku acting as a spearhead of the Hanai K6gyo, a rival group of the Yano Gumi.
One day, her friend Akemi (Meiko Kaji), also a hostess meets Eiji who is being chased by the tough Yano Gumi gangsters and takes him to Ayako's apartment to ask her to take care of him. Rejected, Eiji silently goes out of her room, confesses to Akemi what hap- pened between him and Ayako in the past and says he still loves her.
When Eiji and Ayako meets again some days later he apologies and she Ayako pardons him. The two now feel that they have a fresh love for each other.
When Ayako realizes that she is pregnant she tell hones Eiji at his apartment. Rejoiced, Eiji goes out to meet her but is caught by a bunch of Yano Gumi men and stabbed to death before her eyes.
lri Club Black, Minako is singing her favorite pop songs while Ayako, with her deep sorrow pent up in her heart, flutters from table to table, lavishing her smiles on customers, like a night butterfly.
