[ Story ]
Yukie's (Nakatani Miki) life has been a series of misfortunes since her childhood. She spent a lot of her time at junior high school doing paper rounds as she was poor, while her father, Ieyasu (Nishida Toshiyuki), was arrested for bank robbery. As soon as graduating from junior high school, Yukie escaped Kesennuma and headed for Tokyo, where she met a gangster Isao (Abe Hiroshi), and it looked as if she was finally going to be happy. Isao, however, does not work at all and spends hours playing pachinko. Moreover, he knocks over the table whenever he is displeased, and does not reciprocate Yukie 's dedication at all. When she tells him that she is expecting, he just walks out of the room. Then pregnant Yukie gets critically injured in an accident and teeters on the brink of death. When she regains consciousness, however, she finds a reformed Isao at her bedside, as he has realized his feelings for Yukie and their unborn child.
Based on a popular comic strip by Goda Yoshiie. Directed by Tsutsumi Yukihiko of Memories of Tomorrow (Ashita no Kioku) and The Bandage Club (Hotai Club). The leading actress, Nakatani Miki, received the Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at the 31st Japan Academy Prize.
