First film in the two-part live-action adaptation of manga artist Umino Chica's popular comic. Directed by Otomo Keishi of the "Rurouni Kenshin" series.
Seventeen-year-old Kiriyama Rei (Kamiki Ryunosuke) is a professional player of shogi, or Japanese chess, who has been lionized as a genius but was orphaned at age nine and has no family or friends. One day, Kawamoto Akari (Kurashina Kana) helps him out when she finds him sick and collapsed in the street. From that day onward, he gets to know the eldest daughter Akari, middle daughter Hinata (Kiyohara Kaya), youngest daughter Momo (Niitsu Chise) and their grandfather Someji (Maeda Gin).
