Tanizaki Junichiro's novel, 'Kami to Hito to no Aida' which drew on real life experiences, is brought to life in this drama which changes the setting to modern times. At the helm is "Lowlife Love" director, Uchida Eiji.
Hozumi (Shibukawa Kiyohiko), a private practice physician, and his manga artist friend, Soeda (Totsugi Shigeyuki), are both in love with Asako (Uchida Chika). One day, Hozoumi cedes Asako to Soeda and the two are wed. Thereupon, Soeda starts seeing another woman and mistreats Asako opening the door for her and Hozumi to have an affair. Through all this, Hozumi has continued to have feelings for Asako, until an incident transforms that pure love to hate.
