[ Story ]

Short film directed by Matsumoto Toshio, a pioneer of avant-garde documentary films. A documentary film appreciation group in Kyoto self-produced the film as part of their cultural activities. The film is not about Nishijin as the origin of the luxurious Nishijin-weave silk textile, but rather it uses numerous short close-up shots to depict the gloom of closed-off spaces layered with images evoking the unease and emptiness in the aftermath of the conflict surrounding the Japan-US Security Treaty. Won the Silver Lion at the 13th Venice International Documentary Film Festival.
