The sequel to Gintama, the Oguri Shun-starring live-action adaptation of Sorachi Hideaki's identically titled comic which has sold 55 million copies. Fukuda Yuichi continues on as director from the previous film. The comic's fusion of sci-fi, action, comedy, and samurai period film are given life on the big screen.
Gintoki (Oguri), Shimpachi (Suda Masaki), and Kagura (Hashimoto Kanna) are out of work and running low on money so they take up part-time jobs. However, they encounter shogun Tokugawa Shigeshige (Katsuji Ryo) wherever they go and are compelled to wine and dine him. Meanwhile, the assassination plot of Kondo Isao (Nakamura Kankuro) is being planned inside the Shinsengumi.
