Film inspired by Nobel Prize-winning author Kawabata Yasunari's "Diary of My Sixteenth Year" and "Carrying My Teacher's Coffin on My Shoulder." Helmed by film critic Higuchi Naofumi, who made a splash with his 2013 directorial debut Intermission.
Yukiko (Maeda Atsuko), who lives with her son in an apartment in Ibaraki, Osaka Prefecture, receives a notice that her Ibaraki high school classmate Yoshida (Shirasu Jin) has passed away. Old buddies including Yoshida's baseball teammate Toyokawa (Kora Kengo) get together and at Toyokawa's suggestion they bring the coffin to their former high school and hold the wake at the school.
