[ Story ]
Based on the identically titled novel by Nagi Keishi, who is also a practicing physician, this drama investigates the questions of how we should live a life on borrowed time, and how to conclude that life. Director Murahashi Akio of Letters From Ikuko also wrote the screenplay which looks at ways to die with dignity.
Yamanaka Shizuo (Nakamura Baijaku) is transferred to the hospital of Dr.Imai (Tsuda Kanji) in the Shinshu region. With a few years of life remaining due to lung cancer Yamanaka hopes to die peacefully in the place of his birth. Imai determines to fulfill Yamanaka's wish, but at the same time Imai himself suffers from an illness.
