[ Story ]
Legendary filmmaker Yamagishi Tatsuji is left half paralyzed by a stroke. As Chief Director of the official documentaries of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and 1970 Japan Expo, his work had recorded the country's march through years of post-war economic boom. A young female filmmaker visits him in the hospital and proposes to make a film about his life. The two begin to work together on an ambitious project which opens up the imagination, to achieve some kind of freedom from the realities of his disability and ageing. Takefuji Kayo is acclaimed for her short film "Bone and Flesh Cogitation" (1997) which won the Grand Prize at Image Forum Festival, before working with directors Kawase Naomi and Wakamatsu Koji. She gallantly plays with fantasy in this first feature of hers, "half documentary or half fiction."
