[ Story ]
The dark, hidden immigrant history between Okinawa and Brazil is the subject of this documentary. Matsubayashi Yoju, the director known for The Horses of Fukushima, brings to light the truth about cases of Japanese immigrants being forcibly deported.
On July 8th, 1943, Japanese and German immigrants living in the southeastern port town of Santos were ordered to leave within twenty-four hours. Some were sent to internment camps, others were separated from family for life. However, people of Brazil's Japanese community have kept silent about this tragic event for more than seventy years after the war.
