Kishi Yusuke's same-named novel adapted as a psychological horror film by director Morita Yoshimitsu and screenplay writer Omori Sumio, who also teamed up for Keiho.
Wakatsuki (Uchino Seiyo) works for a life insurance company in the ancient capital of Kanazawa, and one day he gets summoned to the home of a policy holder named Komoda Shigenori (Nishimura Masahiko). He discovers the corpse of Kazuya, who is Shigenori's beneficiary, and he gets hounded for the insurance payout by Shigenori and Kazuya's mother Sachiko (Otake Shinobu). Wakatsuki suspects fraud and launches his own investigation into the husband and wife.
