A film adaptation of Tayama Katai's immortal novel of the same name, which is considered a timeless masterpiece, but the setting is moved from the 19th century to the 21st century. Directed by Yamazaki Shinpei, who garnered attention for Take Over Zone.
Tokio (Saito Yoichiro) who has lost his passion for screenwriting and is trapped in a loveless marriage with his wife, Madoka (Kataoka Reiko), spends his days in a state of limbo. One day, Yoshiko (Akitani Mone), an aspiring screenwriter, barges into his workroom and begs to become his apprentice. Tokio feels Yoshimi's sense as a writer, but also begins to feel sexually attracted to her.
