[ Story ]
Documentary that delves into the story of cameramen who filmed the Great Kanto Earthquake and the footage that they shot.
The Great Kanto Earthquake struck on September 1, 1923, at 11:58 AM. The magnitude 7.9 quake reduced the city to scorched earth and claimed over 100,000 lives. Films documenting the disaster have been found at various sites, and the documentary uses written accounts, memoirs, and testimonies from family members to trace the stories of three cameramen who filmed the immediate aftermath of the earthquake: Iwaoka Tatsumi from Iwaoka Shokai, Nikkatsu Mukojima Studio cameraman Kosaka Toshimitsu, and Shirai Shigeru from Tokyo Cinema Shokai.
