[ Story ]
As the title suggests, this documentary focuses on the relaxed, spontaneous approach to childcare adopted by the Kisarazu Shakaikan Nursery in Chiba Prefecture. Making good use of what satoyama (hilly countryside) landscapes remain in the city, the nursery helps these kids learn and grow by encouraging them to run through the forest all covered in mud, savoring the taste of wild nuts and making friends with all sorts of insects and animals. Documented over a one-and-a-half year period, this film offers viewers a head-on glimpse at how these children grow stronger and tougher from day to day – fighting with each other and getting all roughed up as a matter of course, but also learning about how to become a better, richer person even through these little skirmishes and conflicts.
