Documentary that retraces the experiences of 79-year-old farmer-cum-poet Kimura Michio, who lives in Tohoku. Narrated by actress Muroi Shigeru, whose prolific work in TV and film includes The Little House. Poetry readings by internationally renowned dancer Tanaka Min. Directed by Haramura Masaki of Ten ni sakaeru mura.
Kimura was born to a family of sharecroppers in a tiny farming village. He published 16 poetry collections despite the harsh circumstances he faced and his father's death during the war. In addition to his writing and farming, he joined a project to recover the remains of soldiers from the battlefield on Wake Island in the Pacific Ocean, where his uncle died in battle.
