This tale about a family marks the commercial feature film debut for Murase Daichi, who became the youngest director selected for the New Directors section at the 72nd San Sebastian International Film Festival.
The 12-year-old Ihika (Miyake Shuri) was born into a family that has run a traditional inn for generations in a quiet village surrounded by mountains in the southeastern part of Nara Prefecture. Although her mother Saki (Mizukawa Asami) separated from Ihika's father several ago, Saki continues to run the inn alongside her father-in-law, Shige. One day, Shige disappears. The inn faces a crisis of survival, and changes come to Ihika's family.
