The latest film from internationally acclaimed filmmaker, Suwa Nobuhiro, director of 2 Duo and M/OTHER.
This film-within-a-film remake of Alain Resnais' Hiroshima mon Amour was carried out by key creators Suwa, actor Beatrice Dalle and cinematographer Caroline Champetier. During the first all-night scene being shot at the hotel, Beatrice Dalle is not able to hide her discomfort at recreating every word of Marguerite Duras' text. In the riverside bar scene, her malaise reaches its peak and filming is halted. Machida Kou, a novelist who has visited the set by chance, takes Beatrice into the city of Hiroshima. A message is delivered to Kou and Beatrice to inform them shooting has been suspended indefinitely. They continue to wander around the city aimlessly. In the rubble, they spend the night together. A new telling of Hiroshima mon Amour will be born when the sun rises once again.
