Directed by Kawase Naomi who won the Camera d'Or Award at the 1997 Cannes International Film Festival for her Suzaku and the Grand Prix at the 2007 Cannes International Film Festival for her The Mourning Forest. Set in Thailand, the film has been created with a multi-national cast and staff, including Caroline Champetier, Director of Photography, who has worked on films by Godard, Rivette and Traffault.
Saeko (Hasegawa Kyoko) arrives at Samutsongkram in south of Bangkok, and takes a taxi alone to go to her hotel, but the driver, whose language she does not understand, drives her into a deep forest. She escapes and finds a Thai family at a traditional house with a young man from France who is a guest of the family. Saeko is bursting with fear and alarm, but as she is given a traditional Thai massage she is gradually relieved of her fears and frustration. Despite the language barrier, Saeko slowly manages to communicate with the people and spends seven nights surrounded by the nature in the moist forest without knowing her exact location.
