[ Story ]
The first film starring UA, one of Japan's leading female singers. The story is structured by comparing the characters in the film to the four elements of the universe in Greek natural philosophy: fire, water, wind and earth.
Ryo (UA) is called the "rain woman". Her family runs a public bath, but one day, her father and her fiancé simultaneously pass away. Left all alone in the world, the heartbroken Ryo sets out on a journey, and in the depths of the forest she meets Yukino (HIKARU), who lives free like the wind. When she returns home, she finds an unknown man, Yusaku (Asano Tadanobu), in the house. Ryo invites Yusaku to take care of the oven for the bathhouse. Midori (Ogawa Mayumi), who is called "mom" by Ryo, is a bag lady. The city is her home, and she plays the part of "the earth". In this way the "four elements" are all gathered and intertwined, and a microcosmos is built with the tall chimney of the bathhouse at its centre. This is also a dazzling image in Ryo's memory, which she saw as a child, but in reality this microcosmos is fleeting, and it disappears. However, to Ryo, solitude is no longer a sad thing.
