A Stitch of Life director, Mishima Yukiko, adapts to screen Shigematsu Kiyoshi's identically titled novel with a screenplay by Vibrator screenwriter, Arai Haruhiko.
Makoto (Asano Tadanobu) is unable to get along with the daughter of his second wife, Nanae (Tanaka Rena). With Nanae now expecting their first child, Makoto can no longer say he looks forward to meeting with his daughter from his previous marriage with Yuka (Terajima Shinobu). As Makoto begins to feel suffocated by his current family, he decides in semidesperation to have his step-daughter meet with her father, Sawada (Kudo Kankuro).
