[ Story ]
The first full-length feature in five years from director Hashiguchi Ryosuke, known for gay-themed films like A Touch of Fever and Like Grains of Sand.
Gay couple Naoya (Takahashi Kazuya) and Katsuhiro (Tanabe Seiichi) receive a proposition from Asako (Kataoka Reiko), who they met by chance: would they father her child? Asako has always avoided deep relationships and gone after meaningless sex with strangers, but now she says she wants to have a child with Katsuhiro through artificial insemination. Naoya and Katsuhiro are flabbergasted, because Asako knows that they're gay. Their various family members try to lecture them on what a family is, but Naoya and Katsuhiro have already left old ideas of family behind, and their families' words fall on deaf ears. Or so they think--as they clash with their families, they find their own new vision of family. Then Katsuhiro's older brother, who lived his whole life in the old institution of family, dies in an accident. For Katsuhiro, his brother's death brings deep grief, and along with it an understanding of just how far his first steps have taken him.
