[ Story ]

The harsh path of the United Red Army is followed based on true events leading to the Asama cabin siege of February 1972. The incident was televised and kept everyone in Japan glued to the TV. Directed by Wakamatsu Koji who holds a unique place in Japanese cinema since the late 60s, when youug people supported passionately his adult films containing political statements. Winner of the Best Picture Award in the Japanese Eyes section at the Tokyo International Film Festival. The film was officially invited to the Forum section at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival and received both the NETPAC award and the CICAI award.
Anti-authority struggles led by students of the New Left gradually petered out after its peak at the end of the 1960s. A small number of radical fighters raided a police box and a gun shop to obtain firearms and formed the United Red Army in order to achieve ‘revolution' by force. While the group moved around in snow-covered mountains to escape the authorities, beatings took place frequently of those who were deemed lacking the conscience and determination to become revolutionary fighters, which even led to some deaths. Five members are backed into a corner and barricade themselves in the Asama lodge in Nagano prefecture, and plunge into a gun battle with police and riot police.
